[Coladam] Ultimate SD cartridge ideas

Someone had developed an ADAM SD drive that plugged into ADAMNet and would
run disk and ddp images, but they have disappeared off the face of the
Earth. Hopefully someone else will pick up the torch and run with it.

Subject: [Coladam] Ultimate SD cartridge ideas

Since I own an Adam I would love to own an ADAMNET SD based
drive or even a USB 1.44MB floppy drive that plugs into the ADAM.Existing
software like Filemanger 3.1 is designed to handle floppy drives up to
1.44MB. The AdamNET SD drive would require software to be patched, like File
Manager if it was to access more than 1.44MB of space on the SD drive. The
problem is if no one mass produces a ADAM NET USB interface or Adam NET SD
drive then another possibility might exist. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Perhaps the Colecovision/Adam cartridge port with an operating
system update could be made to access the ADAMNET. Then the Ultimate SD
cartridge could become a ADAMNET drive that reads and writes to SD flash
memory. The Ultimate SD cartridge could install the new EOS operating system
when the cartridge reset button is pushed or pulled. It’s a big if. But if
the Ultimate SD cartridge firmware would load a patch or new EOS that made
it a ADAMNET device then that would be a nice feature to be able to use SD
cards up to 32GB. The Ultimate SD cartridge might be able to become a 1.44MB
Adam Net disk drive number 1 or 2 with a special EOS patch.
A second issue is regards to the theory that most people that
are using the ADAM are only using it to play classic Supergames. If the
Ultimate SD cartridge could be made to emulate a Digital Data drive and an
Adam computer then Colecovision owners could run most Adam Supergames
without the need for an Adam computer. A USB keyboard with a hardware
interface would be required to run some Adam games on the Coleovision with a
software patch. Or the new ColecoVision 2 could become a fully functional
ADAM computer if a 4 port USB hub was included. One USB port for a keyboard,
one for a 1.44MB floppy Adam Net drive, etc. Software emulation could
simulate ADAMNET.
There are so many different options for hardware and software
designs that are possible. All I am doing is throwing out ideas and
personally do not have the time to work on any projects.
